BIRDS IN FLIGHT

Formed in the Summer of 2010, Southampton's hottest export Birds In Flight have been playing headline slots at The Joiners, an EP launch show at Monto Water Rats in London, Dublin Castle in Camden and many more venues across the South Coast, bringing a fresh, new and exciting sound to the alternative music scene.

Since then the band have been focusing on spending time in the studio and developing their sound for the release of their highly anticipated second EP A Hand to Hold which is available now.

The band performed at the area finals of Live and Unsigned in May 2011 and also remained as a top 20 Tunebreaker artist out of hundreds of global entrants, based on votes and sales alone. They were also invited to perform at the O2 Academy, Islington for one of JAR Music's Bi-yearly industry showcases on March 25th 2012.

Keep your eyes on Birds In Flight; their live shows are packed with raw energy and charisma which reflect the determination of this hard working band.

THIS WAY UP

This Way Up are a promising four-piece located on the Isle of Wight. The release of their debut record, entitled The Game EP, coupled with multiple appearances at Portsmouth Guildhall and Butserfest, has succeeded in establishing the band as one of the South Coast’s up-and-coming indie acts.

Their debut utilises evocative politically and socially motivated lyrics alongside strong harmonies and powerful guitar countermelodies to create anthems which never fail to raise a live audience from their seats. Their latest repertoire promises an exciting fusion of musical styles comprising reinforcing reggae-like beats in addition to a more organic acoustic sound.

A recent signing to Rogue Diamond Records, and the opportunity to merchandise their music globally on iTunes, has encouraged the band to broaden their horizons beyond the Island and dedicate their time to meticulously planning a UK Tour in April 2012. The boys are primarily intent on enjoying the music they love to write, record and perform with an aim of making an impact on the nation’s eclectic music scene.

HOBO SAPPHIRE

WINNERS OF MAKE IT, BREAK IT. LIPA MUSIC AWARDS 2010

“Writing a great pop song is never as easy as everyone imagines but they have managed just that, and so young”
Steve Levine [Producer]

The brainchild of six teenagers, Southsea-based group Hobo Sapphire come beautifully armed with an arsenal of sonic bliss, amidst a flowing breadth of imagination. With an already impressive repertoire, Hobo Sapphire are working extremely hard on the live circuit. Although younger than many in their league, their dexterity and capacity to deliver is something to behold.

The recently recorded single Meet Me On A Monday is a wonderfully crafted piece that has recently won a coveted national award after being judged by several professionals such as Harvey Goldsmith and Mark Radcliffe.

And not only are they keen and talented musicians, they are also an aspiring and enthusiastic pub quiz team. So if you dont like this page for their music, like it for their general knowledge. And next time they have a gig pop down to listen to them play or to beat them in a quiz. You choose which one will give you more pleasure.
